Rector
of St. John’s Episcopal Church Rev. Al Rodriguez was called as priest and Rector of St. John's on March of 1999. He holds a Masters of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. His prior educational background includes a B.B.A. degree in Business Administration from St. Mary's University, and completion of graduate course work at the University of Pittsburgh in the field of social and economic development. Fr. Al completed Peace Corps training in the field of community development at the University of Notre Dame. Prior
to and during his seminary studies, Rev. Rodriguez directed the Episcopal human
needs mission known as "El Buen Samaritano," a social ministry which
he helped to establish in 1986 and directed for seven years. After seminary, Fr.
Al served as Assistant to the Rector and eventually as Priest in Charge of
Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, Texas. His previous career has spanned
both governmental and private business sectors in Washington, D.C.,
Pennsylvania, and Texas. "My previous career in community and economic and
small business development provided me with good management and administrative
skills that have been extremely useful in my helping to guide a parish and
overseeing congregational development."
Rev. Rodriguez is currently a trustee of the Hispanic
Scholarship Trust Fund at the national church level, and a past member of the
