The Sunday Discovery Series for Adults

Usually, the Sunday morning Adult Christian Forum, held from 9:15 to 10:00 am, focuses on thematic or topical discussions on some aspect of Christian spirituality, prayer, current issues, etc.  The next eight week series, however, will take a different turn and concentrate on presenting what are now known in the Diocese as the Discovery Series.  In the old days, this new series used to be called an “Inquirer’s Class.”  The principal purpose of the old Inquirer’s Classes was to prepare new parishioners strictly for Confirmation.  The new Discovery Series are more comprehensive than just preparing for Confirmation, and is aimed at inviting and attracting the following categories of participants:

·        New parishioners who are exploring the possibility of Confirmation.

·        New members of the parish who are interested in learning more about the inner workings of St. John’s, its ministries, how the Vestry operates and is administered, etc.

·        New parishioners who want to learn more about the Episcopal Church, or who want to update themselves on the issues and status of the Episcopal Church.

·        Parishioners who want to invite non-Episcopalians or even lapsed Christians who might want to explore the Episcopal Church for possible affiliation.

·        Persons who are interested in being trained as instructors or mentors in the Discovery Series.

The Rector, Al Rodriguez, will hold an exploratory session on Sunday, April 6^th at 9:15 in the morning for any person who might want to explore the Discovery Series and its various components or learning modules.  Some people might want to attend only specific components of the Series that might be of more interest or relevance.
