On Thursday, 15 July 2004, the cross on top of the cupola was
put into place. The pictures on this page are a documentary of the events of
that day.
These pictures are all compressed to reduce loading time;

Preparation: The cross is covered for protection and mounting brackets are
installed.
Ropes
are then attached to manually lift the cross. Fr. Al is pointing out that those
ropes are in poor condition and should not be used (moments later, one of them
broke just as the cross was beginning to be lifted); the ropes were then
replaced with straps.
The cross is lifted in three steps: first to the roof of the narthex...

...then to the roof of the nave...

...and then to the top of the cupola.

The cross is then fitted into the mounting socket in the top
of the cupola and secured.

We
finally get to see the new church building complete with the cross!
