On Thursday, 10 June 2004, after weeks of preparation and
several rain delays, the cupola was put into place. The pictures on this page
are a documentary of the events of that day.

Preparation
for the lift: a frame is built around and through the cupola, and lines are
attached from the spreader bar to each corner of the frame. Although not very
visible, there is a safety line attached from the center of the spreader bar to
the lifting frame. Several other lines are attached to the lifting frame to
allow workers on the ground and roof to control the load.

The lifting begins.
And the cupola is quickly moved into
position...

where it is carefully moved and shifted into
its final position.

From the inside, you can see how the cupola
framework is aligned with the four support beams.
