Early October 2004:
Remodeling of the old church sanctuary and nave to become a
small chapel and several multi-purpose meeting and class rooms has been making
steady progress.

Looking
from about where the organ console used to be, we see the new opening into the
kitchen, the new double doors leading to the new church building, and a bit of
the folding walls that can separate the space into smaller rooms (each of which
has an outside door).

Looking
from the old narthex, the new folding walls are already installed. For
comparison, the picture on the right was taken from the same general position
just before the last service in the old sanctuary.

The
kitchen loses some of its cabinets, along with the storage closet and part of
the wall separating it from the old sacristy. Although already repaired, you can
still see where the floor of the men's restroom was dug up in order to lay the
new drain pipe for the new nursery sink.
The
new nursery will occupy the space formally taken by the two south side Sunday
school rooms. The new sink and cabinets are located where the choir robes used
to hang.

The
old infant nursery is becoming a library / meeting room, with lots of shelves
and cabinets. Fr. Al's new office will be adjoining in the old toddler nursery.
The existing church office will remain where it is. The old "upper
room" office will be closed and become a storage area.
