Comments on Children’s Sunday School / Christian Formation (e.g., other important elements of children’s Christian Ed.):
1. I'm frustrated in the small number of younger children who come. A coworker really liked St. David's use of the Godly Play curriculum, which looks very interesting, but I think we are limited by the number of younger children.
2. New Testament Stories Healing Powers
3. I am not currently familiar with that part of our activities. I love to see kids in church, however.
4. We need more particpation by the parents in helping to bring their children to Sunday School on Sundays. We also need to have alternate ways of teaching our children the basics of Christianity, other than through the Sunday classes.
5. Invite neighborhood children to participate - Good Evangelism tool.
6. Our children need some basic Bible Study aids: How to find a book in the Bible, how to use a concordance, where in the Prayer Book to find the lessons for each Sunday, etc., then they can study the Bible to find answers to their own questions as they get older.
7. I know that there are some good plans in place for this year. I hope that they come together well. I still have some concerns about age appropriate activities. I do understand that this is compounded by the small number of participants.
8. hAVE CHILDREN LEARNING THE SONGS THAT MOST CHILDREN MY CHILDRENS LEARNED IN sUNDAY sCHOOL,. mORE ACTIVITIES THAT ARE NOT SITTING AT A TABLE.
9. I believe that our children should be learning our traditions. It should be possible to teach those hoary old bible stories and make them seem as if these were actual humans this stuff happened to. ?Shouldn't it?
10. N/A
11. getting more adults involved with volunteering to teach or to assist in teaching our children
12. We seem to lose kids as they age. More relevant issues and how to approach them from a Christian standpoint might be a good addition to old CSS.
13. Needs to be organized and a continuous program to cover incorporate all age groups. In the meantime, if our church can't handle a program for an age group because of few students, suggest a program at another church
14. Program appears weak and under-communicated. I personally believe that youth is the future of the church and so you invest in top notch Sunday school and youth group programs.
15. I suppose the greatest need for more advanced, contemporary, innovative Christian education is the need for more children at St. John's.
16. Children's Christian Ed is critical, but has suffered due to lack of space. We really need to emphasize and develop our program.
17. Don't feel qualified to comment on this--no children under 30 yrs old.
18. we need to be using up-to-date Christian Ed. materials with funthings for the kids to do.
19. I am encouraged by the curriculum. I think it's a good one. We lack critical mass in Christian Ed for children. Something that would make it more enticing for the kids that are involved. I'd love to see a puppet ministry - or the kids involved in putting on plays, Chrisitan musicals, etc.
